Finn Hill Brewing
For this project, I was given only three things: the name of the brewery, the name of the beers and what kind of beers they were. That’s it. I wasn’t given design direction or what the owner/brewer generally like in terms of style or much direction at all. Not always a bad thing, as I love creative freedom, but there’s always a chance the client may have a completely different in their head. So, with just that I created a logo, labels and chose bottles for the beers. I decided to go with an old world, stamped design and, rather than go into great detail about what was in the beer or what to expect in terms of taste in the descriptions on the labels, I let the labels speak for themselves. The result is a pair of labels that not only compliment each other and work together as part of a larger family, but also standalone and tell their own story. The bigger, bolder porter features large, chunky text and a more striking illustration while the saison is more understated and elegant. Fortunately, in spite of the lack of initial guidance, the client loved the designs and they remain […]

Concorso Arizona
I had tight ties to the Ferrari Club of America – Desert Region for many years. I designed, developed and maintained their website for years, photographed and promoted various events for them and, at one point, even sat on the board. Part of this relationship led me to develop and promote their premier annual event, the Concorso Arizona. Given only a logo for the event and some rough ideas they had, I developed two event posters, a promotional poster, a t-shirt, a flyer, an event book and a website.

Carnivora IPA
When I was tasked with creating a label design for O’Shea Brewing they weren’t really sure what they wanted. They knew what they were brewing, they knew what they wanted to call it and they knew the sort of feel they were going for. They wanted something bold and brash. Something that would stand out on the shelf. With that in mind, I began brainstorming. I came up with the idea of featuring a variety of animals on their labels, starting with a hyena for this particular beer. They liked the idea, so I got to work. I started by creating the anchor of the label, the cackling hyena face. It’s a mixed media (watercolor, arcylic and ink) illustration on paper roughly 13″ high to make sure there’s adequate detail when printed. After that, I built the label around it, featuring hand drawn text and a “CARNIVORA” logo I designed for the label. In addition to the label, I also created a sales sheet, self talker and case design. Not only was the client thrilled with the results, but the label really stands out among a sea of similar products and I have yet to see another label quite like […]

In all of those years I designed and redesigned their website, built event websites, designed event logos, posters, flyers, t-shirts and event programs, including original content. I’ve also taken promotional photos for the club as well as contributed my photography to their monthly publication and website.

Battle for Skyark
Designed a logo for the film, along with the creation of a website and social media sites (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram). Initially given about a half dozen options, the final logo is written in a strong, sturdy typeface and was given a distressed look to match the dystopian feel of the film. The website is a single-page site with parallax scrolling and multiple forms of navigation, giving you four different ways to access the content without having to load another page. You can view the site here.
